Dr. Ashford is a fierce advocate for the education and advancement of all children, with a special interest in advocacy for boys of color.
​
Dr. Ashford’s professional background is based in human resources, personnel training and development and real estate development. She has worked for major corporations such as Baxter Healthcare, RR Donnelly & Sons and Rush Medical Center.
Dr. Ashford is heavily involved in fundraising activities for secondary and post-secondary institutions and auxiliary organizations whose mission is to improve the experiences of students. Samantha is passionate about being a change agent for those in need of a voice. She commits her time and resources to researching, creating and developing structures to increase the awareness and funding of otherwise overlooked needs.

The Perfect Push Foundation’s mission and vision closely align with two of Dr. Ashford’s points of interest: education and children, specifically children of color. Dr. Ashford is interested in bringing more awareness to the issues at hand and providing a vehicle through which to bring about substantial change. Healthier moms produce healthier children who are capable to bring about a healthier society.

Dr. Ashford received degrees from the following institutions: Central Michigan University (BA), Purdue University (M.S.), Loyola University (PhD). Samantha received her PhD in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from Loyola University of Chicago.
A current resident of Washington, Dr. Ashford lives with her husband and is the mother of two children.
